Link Balloon Heart Recipe

To keep assembly time to a minimum, gather the material and read through the instructions before beginning.

  • Time: Approximately 45 minutes
    Materials:
    50 x 12” link balloons
    43 x 5” balloon
    Monofilament/ clear Line for hanging
    Instructions:
    1.
Inflate two 5” latex balloons to 4” and tie into a duplet - repeat to make 19 more duplets, set aside.
    2. Inflate the following links to 10” to make the components of the heart.
    * One loop of 14 link balloons (see A in illustration)
    * One chain of five link balloons (see B in illustration)
    * One chain of three link balloons (see C in illustration)
    * Two chains of four link balloons each (see D1 and D2 in illustration)
    * Two chains of four link balloons each (see E1 and E2 in illustration)
    * Two Chains of six link balloons each (see F1 and F2 in illustration)

    3. Position the loop (A) on the ground and the two horizontal chains (B and C) below it. Starting on the left side, place the vertical chain of four (D1) on top of the loop so that the knots intersect. There should be link balloon above the loop and one link balloon below the loop. Secure the links by wrapping a 4" pair from Step 1 around the two intersections. Position one 4" latex on the front and one on the back.
TIP: Make sure to twist the 4" balloons completely around each other to lock them in place.
    4. Add the next vertical chain of four (E1) in the same manner, connecting it to the loop and also the horizontal chain of five (B).

    5. Add the next vertical chain of six (F1) in the same manner, connecting it to the loop and the two horizontal chains (B and C).

    6. Repeat Steps 3-5 to add the remaining link balloon chains (D2, E2, and F2) to the right side of the heart.

    7. Tie all of the adjacent link balloons tips together on the outer edge to form the border of the heart. (The links at the top of D1/F1 and D2/F2 will curve inward to form the lobes.) Carefully trim the excess necks and tails of the knots.

    8. Wrap the two remaining 4" pairs from Step 1 onto the knots at the top of each lobe.

    9. Inflate two 5" latex to 4" tie into a pair. Inflate a third latex to 4" and tie it into the pair. Wrap this cluster onto the bottom point of the heart.

    10. Suspend with monofilament line.
