A little Bit about “Us” - WOW Balloons

A few years ago I was asked to wrap a house with balloons, the conservatory and then through the back bedroom window over the gazebo into the garden with an organic design - totally out of my comfort zone but by the time I had broken the whole job down in to little bite sized pieces I was able to quote, organise a team and execute that job on the hottest August bank holiday weekend the UK had ever seen - I had the confidence to do this due to the various training I had received from a qualified instructors over the years.

Having worked in the industry for some 25 years we have certainly seen some changes. Designs that were popular some 20 years ago like the Cloud Nines have been replaced with more elaborate larger pieces people see as they first walk into a venue. How many times have I heard “ I must have my IG “Photo Opportunity. “

As a Bapia Approved Instructor we pride ourselves that we carry on learning so we can pass on the newest designs that have come into the industry. We are also fortunate enough to have the experience and knowledge that we can teach designs that are our staple for the corporate side of the business.

You will look around the industry and you may decide that you want to concentrate on all air-filled designs , Baby Showers or Milestone Birthdays ? Possibly embrace the new Organic Fusion Decor that is starting to emerge ?

I first entered the industry some 25 years ago when I was asked if I could provide some “bunches “ of balloons for a wedding - eek ! Off I went to the Wholesalers and bought 2 bags of balloons, a little tank of helium, some ribbon and some tassel weights - little did I know that from that date I would then go onto Capel Manor to study Balloon Artistry and take my City & Guilds levels 1 & 2, My Certified Balloon Artistry also known as the CBA with Qualatex - I would then travel to the USA and compete in two World Balloon Conventions and then speak with Sky Arts TV to decorate the “ disco “ at a local hotel in Southend on Sea for the TV Show ‘Mr Misunderstood’. I had to decorate the bar with a 30ft Garland, an Arched Frame around the door and then a 5ft Heart to go in the middle of stage above the DJ, this was all the while they were installing the rolling track for the cameras to go on,, the sound checks …… that was one crazy day, I then waited weeks to watch the show, when it was finally aired by lovely balloons were seen by thousands of people for all about 3 minutes, it still makes me smile when I think how excited I was to see my work on the TV , well good job I didn't blink.

So having the training on many different levels was paramount to the type of jobs I am asked to deliver today.
