Risk Assessment and Health & Safety

Our health and safety policy is to:

  • Manage health and safety risks in our workplace and at external training locations to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all employees, contractor, or other third-party staff that is in the position to act on behalf of BAPIA.

  • Manage health and safety risks at external locations for students of the BAPIA Balloon Academy.

  • Provide clear instructions and information, and adequate training, to ensure employees and contractor, or other third-party staff that is in the position to act on behalf of BAPIA are competent to do their work.

  • The co-ordinated interpretation and implementation of statutory and other requirements to achieve good practices recognised by the industry.

  • Implement emergency procedures, including evacuation in case of fire and any other significant incident both at head office or at external training locations.

  • Review and revise this policy regularly.

Responsibilities for health and safety:

  1. Overall and final responsibility for health and safety at the BAPIA Head Office: CEO John Bowler

2. Overall and final responsibility for health and safety at external training locations: The instructor/assessor running the course.

All employees, contractor, or other third-party staff that is in the position to act on behalf of BAPIA should:

• co-operate with supervisors and managers on health and safety matters;

• take reasonable care of their own health and safety; and

• report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person (as detailed above).

Risk Assessment

BAPIA Ltd. will complete relevant risk assessment and take action where necessary. BAPIA will review risk assessment when working habits or conditions change.

A location risk assessment should always be completed by the instructor/assessor when running a BAPIA endorsed course and returned to BAPIA.

Training

All trainers will be given instruction on how to complete a location risk assessment form during their induction training.
